re: Annual Month a' the Chicken

It's hard t' believe, but this year will be our 5th Annual Month a' the Chicken celebration in the Shire!

Mayor Whitfoot is rather pleased, since he's been hen-pecked o'er so many other things, t' be once again holdin' these fine feathered events all nestled into August.

We're still pecking away at settlin' the schedule and gettin' all the paperwerks laid out with the Mayor, so mark the spot t' roost and watch this bulletin fer additions t' our scheduled events listed below.  Once our other events get the Mayor's final Stamp of Approval, we'll add their information as well.

We'll be crackin' out some old favorites like chicken races and our Fish n' Chicks Fry, as well as some new events both contest and adventure oriented.

This year we are also holding Summer Camp for Trainee Chicken Trainers that have not trained a chicken before which starts this month.  We know havin' a Fleet Footed Fowl ain't as easy as flippin' a sunny-side up, so we're extendin' a wing t' help out.  All Summer Camp Trainings will meet at Sandson's Farm near Wald Sandson.  At events where the Chickens-in-Training will be needed, it would be a kindness if Trainee Chicken Trainers keep their chickens cooped until they're given a go ahead by Daffy or whichever other Chicken Tender is assigned t' Trainers t' release them.  If ya want t' attend Camp, but the sessions listed are jes rotten and won't fit in yer schedule, please send Daffodilia a note with your schedule in Bywater Time* so she can arrange a special trainin'.

Please feel free to wear Cloaks of the Cluck, sport some shiny Hobnanigan duds, or flaunt yer Farmer's Faire attire in celebration throughout the month!  Ya can even carry an egg basket about, or simply uncoop yer prized chickens and that'd be swell too.

One note that must be made, given the split of the Carrier Pidgeons Unions in the Shire, if ya attend an event at Sandson's Farm, and it seems no one is there, jes holler out and we'll send a guide t' find ya.**

All events are posted in Bywater Time.*  If ya have any related queries, please feel free t' contact me here or via the Quick Post (Daffodilia).

Summer Camp Schedule:
FryDay, July 18th 9pm-Green Eggs Night: This training session is for dead basics of chicken tenderin' like egg re-placement and training a wurm trackin' chicken.  Chicken Tender Daffodilia will be helping Trainers, Wingchick Egglantine will be keeping an eye on the Green Eggs on the field.

Sat, July 19th 9am & 3pm-Breakin' Eggs: These training sessions are for first timers leaving the nest.  Chicken Tender Daffodilia will be helping Trainers, additional Chicken Tenders and Wingchicks will be available to act as guards and guides.

FryDay, July 25th 9pm-Beyound the Barn: This training session will lead fledglings to even farther bounds than before.  Chicken Tender Daffodilia will be helping Trainers, additional Chicken Tenders and Wingchicks will be available to act as guards and guides.

Sat, July 26 9am & 3pm-Bracin' Beaks: These training sessions will push even further into potentially dangerous territory.  Chicken Tender Daffodilia will be helping Trainers, additional Chicken Tenders and Wingchicks will be available to act as guards and guides.

Wed, June 30th, 2pm: Run t' Rivendell: This event is hosted by the Courserrim & friends. An early burd chance t' brave the trolls and lynxes that lurk in the hills. Meet at Sandson's Farm.

Month a' the Chicken Schedule:
FryDay, August 1st, 8pm: Fryday Flight: This event is hosted by the Courserrim & friends.  A Fryday foray for those fleet footed fowls headin' t' Rivendell.  Meet at Sandson's Farm.

FryDay, August 1st, 9pm: Chick-a-Doodle-Dash: Shorter Shire Sprints t' help yer chickens ease int' racing.  Meet at Sandson's Farm.  Trainers, please keep yer chickens cooped until ya've met with the Racemaster, young Meadowlark Sweetweed.

Saturday, August 2nd, 2pm: Rivendell Run: This will be our first official attempt to escort chickens to Rivendell for the month. Meet at Sandson's Farm. Chicken Tender Wellie will be on hand to organize Free Folk, and Scrambled will be our Fowl Marshall.

Monday, August 4th, 9:30pm: Ales n' Tales at Sandson's Farm:  Special songs!  Daring Barn Feats!  Musicks and dancin' and tales!

Tuesday, August 5th, 9pm: Fluff your Feathers: Chicken Parade to Bree.  Meet at Sandson's Farm.  Trainers, please keep yer chickens cooped until ya've met with Chicken Tender Daffodilia. We will have a Fowl Marshall t' set the pace fer the parade.

FryDay-Sunday, August 8-10th, all day, all night!  HOBNANIGANS!: If ya haven't already viewed or participated in this controversial sport, now's the time t' do so!

Saturday-Sunday, August 9-10th: The Tiny Team Tourney: We will be hosting a Tiny Team tiered tournament of Hobnanigans. (More info can be found in a reply below.)

FryDay, August 15th, 9pm: Fish n' Chicks Night: An annual tradition where both fried fish and chicken dishes will be served.  Bring yer fishin' pole, bring a song t' play, bring a friend! Meet in Overhill by the fishin' dock.

Saturday, August 16th, 3pm: Ever Runnin, Ever Swimmin': Chickens chat with talking trees. Meet at Sandson's Farm. Chicken Tender Daffodilia will be helping Trainers, additional Chicken Tenders and Wingchicks will be available to act as guards and guides.

Saturday, August 16th 6:30pm: Cluckin' with Chickens! Ever wanted t' be a Chicken Tender, but didn't know how best t' do so? This discussion is fer ya! Feel free t' bring pet chickens. Pie and feed will be provided. Discussion on this "unofficial" class will take place at the Oak n' Barrel located at 4 Myrtle Ct. Addernotch, Shire Homesteads. Please note that both the Mayor and Farmer Sandson will not allow Sandson's Special Chickens int' the Homesteads. Only those from Hobnannigans are allowed entry.

Saturday, August 23rd 4:17:32pm: Forsaken Fowls: It's another race! This time t' somewhere much more dreary than the Shire. Meet at Sandson's Farm. Trainers, please keep yer chickens cooped until ya've met with the Racemaster, young Meadowlark Sweetweed. (If yer wonderin, the time t' start is indeed seventeen minutes and thirty-two seconds after four in t' afternoon. Some folks have way too much fun with exactness.)

Thursday, August 28th, 8:30p: Poets n' Duets are graciously hosting "A Night of Poultry". It will be held at the Methel Stage in Tookland. If you have a chicken poem, an Eggcoo, or a duet playable song about chicken related things, please do bring them to share!

FryDay, August 29th 9pm: Safe by Day, Trolls by Night: Rivendell bound. Meet at Sandson's Farm. Chicken Tender Daffodilia will be helping Trainers, additional Chicken Tenders and Wingchicks will be available to act as guards and guides.

Saturday, August 30th, 5pm: Crosser of Roads: A new addition t' our celebration hosted by Concerning Hobbits! This event is for folks who have earned a Golden Chicken and wish to gain the coveted title of "Crosser of Roads".  Not fer the faint of heart!

re: Annual Month a' the Chicken

Updated the schedule.  Now with more HOBNANIGANS!  :o

I've also added two fine events now that all the paperwerks are done, both hosted by kinships other than the Bounders of the Shire.  I'm thrilled t' pieces t' be adding the Concerning Hobbits event, which is new t' our celebration, though it's something they'd done for a while now.  I'm positively fluffed that Ales n' Tales, which is a regular event most folks know rather well by now hosted by the Lonely Mountain Band folks, is joining us yet again this year and hosting one a' their wonderful events at Sandson's Farm.  They've done this for all a' the five years we've been holdin' Month a' the Chicken, and I couldn't be more pleased that they're helpin' us out again this year.  It jes wouldn't be the same without 'em!

We will be holding a special mini event or meybbe even two the weekend Hobnanigans will be available that will take place at the Hobnanigans field.  I'll add details on the Bulletin above once we've got them settled!

Also, I want t' give a mention t' a splendid guide fer folk not familiar with the Crosser of Roads trials and tribulations.  Ya can find Rozalinde's Guide here.

Of Special Note:  I want t' thank the Sacred Steward of SoonTM for helpin' us out t' ensure that the Bree Hobbit folk can also be a part a' our grand celebration.  Bein' from Staddle originally myself, I think it's a fine thing indeed, and a splendid addition fer our Fifth Annual Celebration a' Month a' the Chicken.

Stay tuned!  More events t' be added after paperwerks are stamped.

re: Annual Month a' the Chicken

I've added a handful of events.  We are still trying t' find eggsactly when some things will fit in best.

Still to be settled:
- an Eggcellent Adventure
- Eggcoo  Contest
- Chicken and Egg Lecture
- possible 2nd run t' Rivendell
- Shire vs. Staddle Tourney during Hobnannigans weekend.

Other possible events if the Mayor gives the say-so.

Stay tuned!

re: Annual Month a' the Chicken

I have added three more events t' our Month a' the Chicken Schedule!

Let me offer a heartfelt thanks t' Mister Carndan fer allowin' us t' have what I suspect will be a fowl filled night at his Poets n' Duets event!

We also added a second, yet earlier run t' Rivendell on the 2nd.  Ya may not know it, but some folks study about all the aspects a' Middle-Earth.  If ya ever want t' join them in their studies, ya can find more information here.  They hold both free ongoin' studies as well as a paid certificate study.  They will be immersed in the study a' chickens around that time, and we hope our run will help any who still have a bit more t' achieve in their chicken studies.

Last, but not least....

The Tiny Team Tourney

Teams can consist of three or more players.  However, only three players per team can be fielded at one time.

All teams wishing to sign up for this tournament can sign up by sending Daffodilia a Quick Post with:
- their team name
- team Captain's name (who will act as point of contact)
- player roster
- game times available to play*

Team signs ups must be sent no later than August 1st.

We've not done such a tourney before, so we've no idea how big the response will be.

Due t' that, the game times available per team will be very important.  Not all folks play within the same window a' time per day, which could make schedulin' winnin' teams a bit tricky if the response is small.  It is VERY IMPORTANT that winning team Captains stay on their toes and check the Quick Post as often as possible t' ensure their team does not miss a schedule time t' play.  Any team that fails to appear on time, or fails to field a full team will forfeit that round.

For teams larger than 3 players, if a team Captain will not be present at one of the games, please have whomever will be the acting Captain for that game send Daffodilia a PM if she's around, or a Quick Post if she isn't, stating you will be x team's Captain for said game.

Prizes will be awarded at the end of the Tourney for the top Tiny Teams. All Tiny Team Captains will be sent a first round schedule via the Quick Post in advance of the Tourney.

We encourage teams t' have colors or uniforms, and iffin' they have fans, please do invite them t' yer games t' cheer ya along!

* When you send your times available to play for your teams, it must be in servertime (ET) [i:c914c5a97d][b:c914c5a97d]only[/b:c914c5a97d][/i:c914c5a97d].  Also, wide windows of availability will make for easier scheduling, which is why it might be helpful to have a rotating team roster of more than three.  It's okies if you send many windows per day, like "noon-4 and 6-9pm" and so on.  Please don't try to only have minimum windows like, "1-2pm, 4-4:30pm".  Tryin' t' make sure a field is open and the game played within so many wee small window most likely will be a problem, especially if we get a large response, and have some trouble keeping a field open just for our tourney.

re: Annual Month a' the Chicken

I added the events the Courserrim folks will be runnin'.  Anyone who wants or can bring chickens or Chicken Tenders during them, please do feel free!  I did let them know their FryDay the 1st run will be very hard for us t' help with on accounta we have the first Races that night.

I also added the Chicken Tender class discussion (we are a class unto ourselves, really), the farther Forsaken Race and that leads us up to 14 events this year all told.  Bees and Spice!

I still have not received any team info or inquiries about the Tiny Team Tourney, so that might be a bust.  Time will tell!  Hopefully they're still wranglin' their teams and I'll hear from them before the deadline.

re: Chicken Camp Schedule for May

As some folk alreadies know, the Courserra folk have a new crop of Green Eggs coming in that need a helping wing or two.

I am in discussion with them about Chicken Camp in May that is based around their Week 3 Lesson where their "test" for the week is a successful run to Rivendell.

This is my tentative suggestion so far:

{snip}I like the idea of inviting folk to the Story Night as an official kick off, yet I also know some folk would like a chance to do all the Flying the Coop quests for a chance at the Cloak.  I do not know what else you folks have up your scheduling sleeve for Week 2 activities, though.  So with all that in mind--as well as knowing not all folk are on NA time--here is my rough Camp schedule proposal based on the dates you gave me:

Sunday, the 3rd at 2pm- Green Eggs Camp: basic starter quests (Which Laid First, The Early Bird, and The Sky is Falling), which will open all Flying the Coop quests.

Wednesday the 6th at 3pm and 8:30pm- Flying the Coop: Shire & Lone Lands (both runs during both time periods)

Thursday the 7th at 3pm and 8:30p- Flying the Coop: Ered Luin & North Downs (both runs during both time periods)

Fryday the 8th at 9pm- Story Night in Needlehole, Official Kick-Off for Week 3

Sunday, the 10th at 9am and 2pm- Green Eggs Camp  (Hopefully having both times will make it easier for folk to be ready for Rivendell from the 11th onwards.)

Wednesday the 13th at 3pm--Rivendell Run [may be difficult to get enough Chicken Tender escorts--possible Tinnundir/Bree alt]

Wednesday the 13th at 9pm--Flying the Coop: Tinnundir

Thursday the 14th at 3pm--Flying the Coop: Bree

Thursday the 14th at 8:30pm--Rivendell Run [possible Tinnundir/Bree alt]

Fryday the 15th at ?--Rivendell Run (If this works better for folks--I just can't help)

Saturday the 16th at ?--Rivendell Run (We can either try an afternoon, or do the crash the Market evening run)

I could also offer an open Camp on either the afternoon or eve of the 16th (whenever we don't offer the Riv run) for whatever else folk need that's NOT Rivendell.

This leaves Sunday open for a "LAST CHANCE" run, or if everyone has gotten it by then, we can offer another open Camp for whichever else folk need to get their Cloaks.  Of course, we could always try to do a Free Range run on Sunday...but...well, that's just crazy clucking, really.  ;)

Shire/Ered Luin/Lone Lands/North Downs can usually make it okies with a minimum duo Tender escort (and duo only in case a Tender drops connection--one can do it if high enough level to one shot stuff).  Bree and Tinnundir are better with three or more.

Let me know how this sounds so far when ya have some time to think on it.  I don't know what else non-chicken-y you might have scheduled, so there may be conflicts.  These are just my opening suggestions, I'm not married to them-so feel free to say "Nope, nope, ok, nope" etc.  You are free to schedule the other times I haven't, I just have some RP groups during certain times where I won't be able to help, and most of my usual Tenders won't be able to either (the Fashion Show, I know, we'll have a lot of Tenders there.)

I will do a little "Welcome to the World of Chicken" post after we settle on a schedule with some basics about communicating between Chickens and Tenders, a mini chicken RP glossary, as well as a link to the Roz's chicken guide for folks who want the entire lowdown beforehand.  I'll also be posting notices on the Moot sub forum and the ESS thread.  I'm hoping we'll be able to have a Fowl Marshall for all the runs, but I can't guarantee that just yet.

Worth Noting:: I know F2P folks have issues using the chicken version of /world channel or any userchat channels due to the "this character isn't old enough to use this channel" timer to prevent gold spammers from rerolls that is hard for F2P chickens as each session starts the timer again which for all but Free Range runs means they will never be able to use those channels.  I'm not sure how we can work around that other than teaching them to use the ~(name) for tells since chickens can't fellow.  I'll have to double check to make sure F2Ps don't have issues with /regional as well.  I know /emotes and /shout can help if they fall behind /say range as both reach farther than /say, but if they fall way behind those work arounds won't help them.

Sorries for so many words.  I tried to be as brief as clarity seemed to allow. {/snip}

If you have a Green Egg you would like to train, a Fowl Marshall (goldies preferred, but not required) or a Chicken Tender who may be able to assist during any scheduled times, please let me know!  I will post the final version of the schedule once it's been solidified.

re: Annual Month a' the Chicken

Now that the schedule is starting to get official-like, if you would like to volunteer (yourself only, Hoppa!) as a Tender or Marshall/wingchick for any of these times, PLEASE DO.

Here is the official announcement (but the schedule is still WIP):

Welcome to the World of Chicken!

Whether you're a Green Egg or a Crosser of Roads, it's time for Chicken Camp once again!

Below you'll find: the schedule; two links about Chickens in LOTRO; notes on chicken and free folk communication; and a mini chicken RP glossary, which is words that have developed over time into lingo, or conventions to work around game dynamics in a way that sounds like it fits in naturally to Middle-Earth.

Schedule (anything in italics is still tentative):

Sunday, the 3rd at 2pm- Green Eggs Camp: basic starter quests (Which Laid First, The Early Bird, and The Sky is Falling), which will open all Flying the Coop quests.

Wednesday the 6th at 3pm and 8:30pm- Flying the Coop: Shire & Lone Lands (both runs during both time periods)

Thursday the 7th at 3pm and 8:30p- Flying the Coop: Ered Luin & North Downs (both runs during both time periods)

Fryday the 8th at 9pm- May Day Story Night at Musterin' Hill (The hill between the Stables and the Crafting Area in Michel Delving.), Official Kick-Off for Courserra's Week 3

Sunday, the 10th at 9am and 2pm- Green Eggs Camp

Wednesday the 13th at 3pm--Rivendell Run [possible Tinnundir/Bree alt]

Wednesday the 13th at 9pm--Flying the Coop: Tinnundir

Thursday the 14th at 3pm--Flying the Coop: Bree

Thursday the 14th at 8:30pm--Rivendell Run [possible Tinnundir/Bree alt]

Fryday the 15th at ?--Rivendell Run

Saturday the 16th at 3pm--Rivendell Run

Sunday the 17th at 3pm--Rivendell Run

Communication:

The most important thing to know is that chickens and Free Folk cannot understand each other's spoken language.  This means even if you have chat bubbles on, you cannot see anything the other says in bubble,/say,/emote,/tell,/regional,/world, et al because chickens are treated like Creeps (Monster Players--though if you go to the Moors, Creeps will gleefully kill you.)  We work around this in three possible ways:

1) Use a non LOTRO voice program like Team Speak or Vent;

2) Have either a Free Folk double boxing (playing two accounts at the same time) with a chicken, or have folks in the same household on as Free Folk/chicken during a run who can act as intermediaries;

3) Use the play dead chicken skill, jumping chickens, and certain Free Folk emotes to say things like "stop", "ok", "start" that will always be made clear before folk "get (your) their chicken" (see below.)

The second most important thing is when you get to Sandson's Farm, find out who the Chief Tender is and who the Fowl Marshall is if there is one.  The Chief Tender will explain what is going on and when to get your chicken.  The Fowl Marshall (when one is present) will communicate with the Chief Tender, as well as lead your run if you are a chicken.  (On any run where Rozalinde is present, she is Mama Hen--both Chiefs and Marshalls will defer to her even though she may not be the Chief/Marshall of that run.)

The third most important thing is to know is that F2P account chickens will have trouble using the /world and /regional and any userchat channels.  If this is you, learn to use the ~ when trying to /tell your Fowl Marshall something really important like /tell ~Egglantine I'm Dinner or /tell ~Scrambled My house is on fire and I have to go.  Remember that /say range is quite limited and /e or /shout range is not much farther (/e=emote)

The fourth most important thing is although it's fun to run like the wind, do not use your run skill just because.  Even wardens have a tough time keeping up with fleet footed fowls, and in the time it takes for Tenders to get on their horse, catch up and dismount, you might be Dinner.  Save that for when a bear is running towards you and the Tenders are busy finding hidden lynxes.

The last, but not least most important thing to know is do your best to stay alive, which often means do not hide under the skirts of someone fighting a creature with AOE skills.

Glossary:

Broodie (also Broody): a chicken in your run that has failed the run in the past

Carrier Pidgeon: an RP convention- whether referring to IMs/whispers or regional, these tireless birds take messages everywhere

Carrier Pidgeon Unions: an RP convention- Sandson's Farm is considered a "Festival" chat zone, which is not the same as the "Shire" chat zones.  This makes it difficult to keep communication going on the /regional channel because someone on the farm cannot hear the regional messages if the messenger is on the other side of the Carrier Pidgeon Union Tree.  It's also very important to know this when the farm becomes layered due to a large turn out for a run--you can't see anyone, but you know folk are there.  So the joke is the Festival Union and the Shire Union birds can't cross the line.

The Carrier Pidgeon Union Tree: an RP convention-If you take the path from the East Road by turning at the signpost towards Sandson's Farm, there is a tree on your right just outside the farm where you will see your chat channels switch over from Shire to Festival as you pass it.  Depending on which side you need to be on, then be on that side of the tree.

Chicken Tender (also Tender): a Free Folk who is helping escort the chickens do what they need to do, usually by swatting away other creatures who want you to be Dinner.

Chicken Trainer (also Trainer): Whatever Free Folk you are on when you do the chicken quests.  Your chicken has your name on it, because you are the trainer.

Chief Tender: The Chicken Trainer in charge of the run.

Cloak of the Cluck: A beloved cloak, similar to one offered at Hobnanigans, yet very different!  Earned once you complete all the quests leading up to and including the Flying the Coop line.

Crosser of Roads: A title that has brought many seeking it to tears.  This is earned once you complete the Free Range questline.  Not something a Spring Chicken can pull off.

Crowded Coop: During long runs or races, sometimes a lot of folk show up, and only so many chicken session slots are available per quest.  The Chief/Marshall will call "Crowded Coop", and anyone who doesn't need that run but wants to be a chicken would then take an alternate quest destination (like Everswim instead of Rivendell).

Dinner (also Supper or Soup): a chicken that is/was killed during a run

Fleet Footed Fowl: a convention used to describe racing chickens.  Chicken races are a non-quest RP game where folks get their chickens and then race to whatever course/destination without Tenders, with prizes awarded accordingly.

Fool: a very rare title from a long obsolete April Fool's quest where chickens could go to the Moors via a special nest

Fowl Marshall: Typically a goldie, the head chicken in a run.  They are always a leader in a more formal parade (not the typical one in Bree), sometimes a second Marshall will rear guard in runs as well to keep an eye out for laggers.

Flying the Coop: The second series of quests that must be done to obtain your cloak after you finish the 3 Green Egg quests.

Free Range: The third series of quests and deeds that must be done to obtain the title "Crosser of Roads".

Free Wing: An attempt to complete any quest/deed without the help of Tenders. Fowl Marshalls and Wing Chicks can be at such attempts.

Free Wingers: (see above) Chickens who have attempted/succeeded to complete/completed any or many of their quests without the help of Tenders.

Get Your/Their Chicken(s): This happens after you are given the go ahead by the Chief Tender, and you go talk to Billena or George, depending on the quest.

Goldies: Chickens who have completed the Flying the Coop questline.  When you talk to George, a golden feathered fowl will be offered for Free Range quests.  (Free Range is repeatable, so you can always be a goldie after this point.)

Green Egg: A trainer/chicken who is on the first 3 quests that Wald Sandson offers at the farm.

Hacklers: Starking mad chickens that actually go out and fight other creatures, usually in large flocks. (You can level if you survive long enough.)

Mama Hen: Rozalinde.  There is no other.

Parade: Exactly what it sounds like, often done while traveling through Bree Town, with chickens almost always in single file.

Pipping: The first time one needs to speak to Billena.

Primaries: Chickens who have completed the Free Range quests and deeds, and have obtained their Crosser of Roads title.

Racemaster: The equivalent to a Chief Tender for races.  This post is most often held by young Meadowlark, the founder of Landy chicken races.

Racing Chickens: see Fleet Footed Fowls

Regional Inn: an RP convention- where there is an Inn with Carrier Pidgeons that travel all about the Shire, sharing gossip, announcements, et al

Spent Hen: A Broodie that has tried but not yet completed the Free Range questline.

Spring Chicken: One step away from Free Range.

Wingchicks: experienced chickens, goldies or otherwise who assist as they can during runs.  Wingchicks have been known to sacrifice themselves in harder runs in order to help Broodies and Spent Hens succeed.

Yard: RP slang for the /world channel.

If you have any questions that haven't been answered by the above, please feel free to ask.

Thankies to everyone who attended our first session of Chicken Camp this month! Next one is Wedneday, and we'll be leaving the safety of the Shire for the Lonley Lands--our first session dealing with sneaky things that want to make us Dinner. I'm sure all the chickens will be paranoid about it.

Special thanks to Mama Hen for stopping by and Tendering our impromptu Bree excursion.

re: Annual Month a' the Chicken

We had several successful runs during both sessions of our Chicken Camp today!  I want to thank the following:

Chicken Tenders: Elisedd, Hurricaine, Bredhe, Gennyrose, Rozalinde, Grenadyne, and Lincilthuc
Fowl Marshall: Ruebarb

Tomorrow's Camp focus is Ered Luin and the North Downs.  Hope t' see ya there!

re: Annual Month a' the Chicken

Another round of thanks are due for a very busy day yesterday at our two sessions of Chicken Camp! We had four successful Free Wing (meaning no Tenders for the challenge) runs--one of which was solo, and five successful Tendered runs. One starking mad chicken even did four Free Wing solo runs in between sessions. ("Just to see if I could," they said! *shakes head*)

Tenders: Gennyrose, Kilroi, Louvestra, Ruthelia, Sweetbroom, Lincilthuc and even Larno who joined us for a bit in Bree-Land.
Special thanks to: Katelynrose for passing messages at the Farm, and Louvestra for braving her first Tendering solo to help a chicken out as we tried to catch up to that starking mad chicken heading to Bree.

Next Camp up is on Sunday, and we have two sessions (9am and 2pm) instead of just the one we had this week. Both are focused on Green Eggs quests, and I'm going to gander a guess that some folk will need to steer their chickens to rally the Shire Animals as well to prepare for the Flying the Coop: Trollshaws sessions later in the week.

Depending on how many Tenders we have available, we may push those who need the Shire Animals towards the end of each Camp session since the Green Eggs quests are what is scheduled.

If you cannot make the Green Eggs Camp sessions on Sunday, and still need those quests as you are in the Coursera class, send Daffodilia a post ASAP in game so we can arrange a time to get you through them. When you write, please say when are good days/times for you in servertime (ET), and please do not put in any times that would overlap with already scheduled Camps this week. I will be checking my in game post at least once a day until the Camp is over, but please don't write me, say, Saturday morning and ask for a Saturday afternoon sort of thing. Gathering Tenders takes time.

If you want the Cloak, and could not make some of the sessions this week, as long as you have Flying the Coop: Trollshaws available when you speak to George*, you will be able to at least do that run next week, plus whatever else you can make. Other places like Ered Luin, North Downs, et al, can still be done later this month. I will schedule more camps for those who need them, so please don't fret if you didn't/can't make the camps you need to get your cloak.

Lastly, I cannot stress enough--especially since the big runs are coming up this week--if you want your chicken to successfully complete these quests, please do not run ahead of the front line Tenders! If you have not Tendered yourself before, you may not realize both how nerve wracking and frustrating that can be. It forces the Tenders to decide whether to save you, or mind the rest of the flock who are doing as they should to make the Tenders' job easier. (I think you can gander a guess as to whom they will choose.) We understand that mistakes can happen (lag spike, cordless keyboard battery dies, home aggro, et al), but if you do it more than once...well...hopefully ya won't become Dinner.

*In case you're not sure if you still need it or not: if you have already accepted another Flying the Coop quest from George, his full list of what you still need to do will not be available unless you cancel the quest you took, and then speak to him again.

re: Annual Month a' the Chicken

Oops.  Forgot to copy over a day, so this is a double report:

I want to thank Kilroi and Lincilthuc for acting as our Tenders on Sunday afternoon's camp during our impromptu Rivendell practice run (one chicken safely escorted + none Dinner =100% success).

We seem to have a rise in folk wanting to attempt Free Wing runs, which is scary and exciting all at once. Go Free Wingers!

Except for the Fryday/Saturday possibles, everything on the calendar is now a definite, including an additional Rivendell run on Sunday afternoon (leaving plenty of time in between that and the Rivendell Walk for those who plan to go on the Walk--don't fret).

--

Soooo many great folks to thank that helped out during our Wednesday and Thursday Camps! Everything you do helps our camps run smoothly, and I cannot thank you all enough for all your help during these two weeks (and still going!)

As a reminder, we have added a definite Sunday Camp for Trollshaws/Rivendell and today we also added one on Saturday as well--both are at 3pm servertime. Friday we're still holding off as there is a Fashion Show, but if you still need Rivendell and are in the class, just ask! We'll do our best to arrange Tenders that will not be at the show.

Wednesday:
Tenders: Hologro, Lincilthuc, Lady Ashigaru, Ethlossoth, Lindalosse, Tinulind
Marshalls: Catfitch & Louvestra

Thursday:
Tenders: Gennyrose, Hologro, Tulenn, Lindalosse, Valarina
Marshalls & Wingchicks: Catfitch, Dandalyn

Special thanks to:
- Mirvie for passing messages at the farm--that really helps a lot!
- Gennyrose and Hologro who hung in there when a chicken had to go back to talk to a cow after we had done all of Bree-Land.
- Valarina for asking her huntress Amalita to help waggon folks back to Michel Delving.

re: 6th Annual Month a' the Chicken

I am in the process of sketching out what will happen when this year.  There are still a lot of events like our races that I know we said we'd fit in as we could, so I'm posting what I have firm so far here so we can start fitting the other stuff in.  I have asked the LMB about Ales n' Tales at Sandson's Farm and am waiting on a "yes we'll do it again" and when, and they'll be hosting for us once again this year on the 10th.

7- Fryday Fish n' Chicks night in Overhill

10- Ales n' Tales at Sandson's Farm

28- Tendered run to Rivendell

29- Roz & CH with a Free Range run

30- Courserrim Chickengard race

Other possible events:

- chicken races

- chicken parade (we've done the parade to both the GHMS concert and Bree town)

- chicken camp for folks who need to train up a chicken for the Free Range run

- Chicken Riddle night

- Chicken Hiders and Seekers

- Another night of Poultry if I can talk Mister Carndan into it

- Gaffy has said he would like to hold a "Feathered Fashions" contest at the Museum

- anything else folk want to do and haven't mentioned to me yet

re: Annual Month a' the Chicken

So I went back to look at last year's announcements and near had a heart attack.  We offered 14 events last year in August alone!  That's cracked!  It was also just August since we had the Camp stuff in July as well.  Sooooo glad we had camp a few months ago this year.

I heard back from Ales n' Tales and will adjust the schedule above as such when I'm done posting this, but they'll be at Sandson's Farm on the 10th in keeping with our tradition.

I'm also in talks with one lass who may be hosting a Free Wingin' run or two, and I reached out to the Remnant folks who have been offering Saturday chicken runs of late as well and hope to hear back from them if they'd like t' offer something.

I will be posting my initial announcements this Fryday on all the Bulletins I can reach.  Feel free to let folks know in other places as well as ya remember to share the word.
