A huge thank you to all escorts. This wouldn't have been possible without you! I wish you all received a reward as well. Thanks to our three Hunter Leaders of the Chicken Escort Advance Squad: Lhinnthel, Mirkir, and Nettlebow!

I've never felt this confident in the difficult areas on any of the past runs. Part of it is experience, but a huge part was also our magnificent hunters, loremasters, and other stealth-detectors.  I was watching the Combat log during Angmar, and saw "so-and-so has defeated the Scara Skulker" every 5 seconds. Not all of them were close enough to the road to have been a strong danger, but some of them were.

Huge thanks to ~Egglantine, ~Calycanthus, and other chickens who helped transcribe instructions for those not in Teamspeak.

Thanks to Sobrandorin for the use of his Teamspeak.

Special mention to our brave little chicken Lerillos, who somehow managed to weather her late-run demise with a saintly amount of grace and serenity (while the rest of us were wailing and tearing our feathers out with grief and contemplating solidarity-inspired ritual suicide at the Last Bridge).

I just want to give this a loving bump up, so folks don't forget how soon this will be taking place.  If anyone wants to participate as a chicken and does not have all the Flying the Coop quests finished, please do not wait until the last minute to ask for some chicken tenders to help you catch up.

I would really like to see folk participate in this event, whether as a chicken or chicken tender, especially since we pushed off the monthly Moot Meet to help accommodate it.  Remember, Tenders do not have to be present for the full five + hours.  Show up and tend as ya can.  Chickens, though....they must be there for the full time.

Thanks, Rozalinde!

I have made a note on the Bounder Calendar to remind folks of this, and also all the preparations that are necessary.

Bawk, bawk!

PostPosted: Sun Feb 01, 2015 1:38 pm    Post subject: Special Chicken Run Invitation to the Bounders

Join Concerning Hobbits as we lead another run to help folks complete the infamous Free Range chicken deed and earn the rare title "Crosser of Roads".  This will be our fourth large chicken run. Over the course of the prior three runs, we successfully delivered a total of 36 chickens to complete this difficult deed!  Miss Daffodilia invited us to hold our most recent chicken run as part of the "Month of the Chicken" back in August, and it was such great fun!  Miss Daffodilia has feathers of steel, and was a most wonderful help.

The run is scheduled for:
Saturday, March 7th 5:00 PM servertime. Slated to take 5-7 hours. (I know, I know! It's a long time... but you only need to come the whole time if you're a chicken.  Escorts can come and go.)

We have need for both chickens (who want to earn the deed) and escorts to protect the chickens on their dangerous journey. If you want to come as a chicken, please study the necessary pre-requisites so you are prepared on run day.  See the Concerning Hobbits kinsite (http://concerninghobbits.shivtr.com/...hreads/2024309) for more information about pre-requisites and how the run will be managed.

Hope to see you there if you can make it!

Yours,
Rozalinde Fairholm, Concerning Hobbits, Mother Hen

With many thanks to:
Lhinnthel, Lonely Mountain Band, Assistant Mother Hen and Leader of the Escort Advance Squad

Special Note:

Free Range is the CAPSTONE for chicken play.  If you're a chicken hopeful and you have not yet already completed ALL of the Flying the Coop quests and earned your Cloak of the Cluck by the START of the run, then you will not be eligible to complete the deed as a chicken.  Find out more about the Chicken Play quest chains here: Mother Hen's Chicken Guide

Chicken Quest Chain

There is also a CAP of 25 Free Range Session Players, so unfortunately we cannot guarantee everyone a spot if we end up with a lot of chicken hopefuls. But we'll do our best!
