The 17th Annual Month o' the Chicken

Greetings! The 17th Annual Month o' the Chicken on the Peregrin server is upon us, and we are ready to help chickens achieve all the glory and accolades chicken play has to offer.

Here are some of the highlights:

The Cloak of the Cluck for completing all the Flying the Coop quests

The title "Lord (or Lady) of the Wings" for completing The Great Wide Open, a journey through Tharbad, the Gravenwood and Galtrev, through the Gap of Rohan, and culminating with chickens flying off the Prow at Minas Tirith

The title "Wing under the Mountain" for completing the journey through the Misty Mountains, the Vails of Anduin, Dale, and on to Erebor

The title "Crosser of Roads" for completing Free Range, where we will go all over Middle Earth by utilizing the Strange Chicken Nests, including Kheledul, Fornost, Annuminas, and Angmar, to name just a few of the attractions on this dangerous journey!

Chicken Play begins with a few quests from Wald Sandson at Sandson's Farm. Once those are completed, you will be able to complete the Flying the Coop Quests.

Here is our schedule for ALL confirmed Month o' the Chicken events including Ales & Tales chicken edition, a Concerning Hobbits chicken-themed party, chicken races in the Shire, and a fun run to the Tower of Eaworth.

NOTE: We may add more Fun Runs and/or Flying the Coop repeats as the month progresses, so the best way to stay up to date is to join the Sandson's Farm server! Just send in-game mail to Glofinwing on the Peregrin server.

The Great Wide Open (Minas Tirith, 3-4 hours)--Saturday, 8/22 @ 3pm, led by Daeroin

Fun Run to the Top of the Tower at Eaworth, Rohan (~2.5 hours), Sunday, Aug. 23 @ 3:30 pm, led by Snugglyfoot

Free Range (6-8 hours) for the coveted title "Crosser of Roads"--Sunday, 8/30 @ 1pm, led by Daeroin

IMPORTANT: If you are unable to make any of the quests on the date it's scheduled, please let us know so we can try to accommodate you. We don't want you to miss any of the major quests!

AGAIN: For an invitation to the Sandson's Farm Discord server, where there is much more information, please send an in-game message to Glofinwing on the Peregrin server.

I hope to meet many new and experienced chickens from all servers this August! And if you have an interest in leading a fun run, by all means, let us know!

Summary of the Bounder Meeting of Jan. 18

(Iffen folks want to read the actual transcript I have it available, but it is not the most entertaining of readings.)

The fear is that if the Bounders of the Shire does not move immediately, then they will no longer be the Bounders of the Shire - and will no longer have an Addernotch Station.

Bounders destination - the Peregrin server.

Folks seem agreed that we are aiming to make the whole of the Addernotch homestead our own. For that reason, moves will happen quickly. There are four kinship locations, which we will try to get for (1) Addernotch Station, (2) The Bounder Museum of Antiquities, (3) The Oak 'N Barrel Inn, and (4) Sweetweed Enterprises Crafting and Storage.

Iffen we can't get Addernotch, we won't try to get a new place right away but wait to coordinate things at a later time. In the mean time, at least try to get one kinship house in Addernotch for the Bounders while we plan what else to do.

The Bounders of the Shire.

1) Li'l Meadowlark will be named acting chief and will be charged with moving the Bounder records to Peregrin at the earliest possible moment.

2) Li'l Meadowlark will need to abandon Addernotch Station before the transfer date.

3) Li'l Meadowlark will conduct the transfer standing right outside the gates to the Shire neighborhoods with the expectation that this is where he will show up on Peregrin - where he can instantly go purchase Addernotch Station.

4) Iffen he cannot secure Addernotch Station, he will seek to secure some other kinship location in Addernotch.

5) When Li'l Meadowlark leaves the Bounders of the Shire kinship on Landroval will disband automatically.

6) Bounders can move at their pleasure and convenience. When you do move, you will be automatically re-enlisted in the Bounders on Peregrin. (Unless you join a different kinship before you transfer.) However, many Bounders and smialmates will be moving quickly in order to take over the Addernotch homestead for ourselves.

The Bounders' Museum of Antiquities.

1) Woodlarke will be named acting chief and will be in charge of moving the kinship records to Peregrin at the earliest possible moment.

2) After Li'l Meadowlark secures a kinship home in Addernotch, Woodlark will seek to secure a second kinship home in Addernotch.

The Oak N' Barrel

Still waiting to hear on what their plans are.

Sweetweed Enterprises.

1) This is a plan to set up a crafting and storage area in Addernotch. If we can get the fourth kinship house, it will be the headquarters. If not, then a set of local houses with one serving as a headquarters and others used for additional storage and facilities.

2) Daffodilia and Gennyrose are working on securing Sweetweed Enterprises.

General:

1) Do not abandon your personal house(s). You will be refunded in full when you leave and can purchase a new home of comparable quality on the other side. (NOTE: Kinship leaders must abandon the kinship house, but that is something different.)

2) The Standing Stone folks are seeking to make all existing neighborhoods available. This is a deviation from standard procedures where a limited number is available and the number grows as needed. This is to help handle the land rush.

3) The Moot Meet for Jan. 25 at 7:00 PM at theOak will be for coordinating Bounder activities with Bounder friends and such.

4) The Bounder website has not been used much, but it will be used to handle this migration so go there for news and official informations. Folks have not been using the bulletin boards much recent but are advised to do so during the migration as it will be the official source for spreading information.

5) A Discord server is being set up to handle day to day activities, planning, and conversation.

6) Day 1: VIP folks can log in and create 3 characters with names that they want to hold (for each VIP account they have). Day 2: Folks can transfer characters to the new servers for free, but cannot create new characters or play existing characters. They are in limbo. Day 3: Game worlds open. NOTE: On Day 3, folks with other names that they want to preserve can, at this point, quickly create characters with those names. They do not need to transfer characters to hold the names.

7) The reserve-name process. You create a character with the name you want to reserve on the new server. You transfer the character from the old server to the new server. The character you transfer will be renamed and you will get a free "change name" token. You delete the character you created to hold the name and use the change-name token to claim that name.

8) The account you use to hold a name does not need to be the same as the account of the character whose name you want to reserve.

Things brought up that should be included in the planning.

1) Making sure that the Cartography House in Dampdale gets transferred. It's got all the maps.

(Contact me, either here, or in game ( Balifor ) if you'd like to do a couple songs to the Warder's kinhouse, once there, we can do a free-for-all style band playing, like we did last year!

The Fifteenth Annual

Month o' the Chicken

Every year, The Bounders of the Shire Kinship, Landroval, celebrates the Month of August as Month o' the Chicken. This consists of assisted Chicken Runs of all levels, as well as other Chicken Related Events.

It was founded in 2009, and for many years run, by Miss Daffodilia Wildfeet. As Miss Daffodilia is unfortunately not available, the event will be run by Miss Rebra. As Mama Hen stubbornly remains in retirement, and Uncle Rooster has passed, the Free Range (Crosser of Roads), The Great Wide Open (Minas Tirith), and There and Back Again (Erebor) Runs will be led by others.

We would like to thank all those, whether individuals or kinships, both New and Returning, who have offered to participate in the Month o' the Chicken.

FAT HOBBIT (2024)

Date: Tuesday, February 13, 2024.

Time: 9:00 PM/servertime (Eastern Time)

Location: The Bird and Baby Inn Courtyard, Michel Delving, The Shire

First celebrated in the Shire in 2011 or 2012, Fat Hobbit is always held on Shrove Tuesday. (Since this is a Moveable Feast based on the Moon's fullness, the date will be different each year.) It is the Bounders version of Mardi Gras. Fat Hobbit celebrates the hobbit, Marty Grass, who gave up eating pies for 40 days Some say that it is a celebration of the hobbit, Mary Grass, in anticipation of the ending of winter. Regardless of one's belief, it is celebrated by music and a "Come as You Aren't "Costume Contest. The event colors are Purple, Green and Gold (or Yellow). All contestants MUST wear the festival colors. Guests may wear these colors in honor of the festivities, but are not required to do so. Masks may also be worn. The more elaborate the contestant's costume is, the more likely it is that he or she will win. The band will play throughout the event.

The Costume Contest is held to determine the winners, who will be the next King and Queen of Fat Hobbit. There is a Costume Parade, so that all may see the costumes worn by the contestants. The Parade should begin at the second or third tune. Voting should begin soon afterwards.

The winners are chosen by vote, which is done by Bead (gem) selection. Music will be provided by the Green Hills Music Society.

My thanks also to the designer of the beautiful poster created for the event. I do not know who you are, but thank you so much. I have little skill in that area and appreciate your wonderful work.

Miss Genny, perhaps the "desired interruptions", which previously pre-empted the regularly scheduled topic, could instead be scheduled as a Special, as Master Meadowlarke suggested I do with Chicken Folk. I shall suggest it to him so we can all think about this.

Late Note:

I sent him a letter asking about this He said that he thought it an excellent idea. A Special meeting (such as Emergency Meeting of Minstrel Changes) would not interrupt the flow of the Established Topics. It also makes it much easier to maintain order, and to plan ahead.

I have now posted the finished product on Shire-Moot Bulletin Board with Captain/Champion swapped , and Rune Keeper/Lore Master swapped. I also have sent a link to Master Aldekim for ease of advertising at Ales and Tales.. As soon as i can locate more venues where it is practical to advertise this sort of event/activity, I shall advertise there as well.

THE FOURTEENTH ANNUAL

MONTH A' THE CHICKEN

Every year, The Bounders of the Shire Kinship, Landroval, celebrates the Month of August as The Month a' the Chicken.

It was founded, and for many years run, by Miss Daffodilia Wildfeet. This year, as Miss Daffodilia is unfortunately not available, the event will be run by Rebra. As Mama Hen also stubbornly remains in retirement, the Free Range (Crosser of Roads), The Great Wide Open (Minas Tirith), and, There and Bawk Again (Erebor) Runs will be led by Uncle Rooster.

We would like to thank all those, both New and Returning, who have offered to participate in the Month of the Chicken: The Lonely Mountain Band Kinship, Hologro, The Concerning Hobbits Kinship, Molee, The Lous Kinship, Juju Kinship.

To you all, a very warm welcome and many thanks for your participation.
